My 2 1/2 yr-old pure breed Lab has a fixation on eating crumpled tissues, either used or not. He has become very aggressive about pursuing people who are holding these tissues. First, will eating these tissues hurt him? Second, what is the best way to try to break this habit? Frankly, it's disgusting!
Tissues probably will not hurt him. If he eats too many at one time there is a possibility of intestinal obstruction. I would avoid any tissue contact with your pet. For example, flush the tissues in the toilet instead of throwing in garbage. You may want to distract your pet as well if you are planning to hold tissues. Try a treat he really likes. Vetcare
