My beagle-8 yrs. old has been diagnosed with an enlarged prostate. After having an ultrasound, it was found that the prostate also had 3-4 cystic areas and a 1-1.5cm nodule-caudodorsal. There is no malignancy. He was neutered a week ago and is still dripping blood from the penal area. How long will this bleeding occur and how long will it take for the prostate to shrink?
It usually takes about a month for the prostate to shrink. If your pet has prostate cancer, or an infected prostate the neuter may not do much. Neutering a dog works with benign prostatic hyperplasia. If there is no improvement in about 1 month, I recommend a biopsy of the prostate. Good luck, vetcare
