I have a4 your old yorkshire terrier who has been diagnoed with trachael collapse. What is the course of treatment and the prognosis for my dog?????
A collapsing trachea is very common in small breed dogs, especially yorkies. You want to try to avoid the situations that causes the trachea to collapse ( ie: If your pet coughs when very excited try to avoid situations that excite your pet ). Second, some dogs respond well to anti-cough medications. The prognosis is generally good, some dogs do not do well with this condition but most live full normal lives. vetcare
