I have 4 dogs, German Shephard who is the alpha dog, Doberman mix who is the only female, Great Dane mix, and a Min Pin. These dogs have lived together for 4 years with minimal problems. The one problem I'm having is random aggression from the Great Dane mix, Thor. Thor will from time to time stiffen up and start growling. On rare occassions he will attempt to pick up and shake the MinPin. The MinPin while not scared of any of the dogs is not doing anything to provoke these random attacks. I have taken Thor to a doggy psychologist that has me make him sit for anything he wants and this does work if I can see the behavior coming on. My question is, is there a medication I can use to level out this behavior since I can't be with them all the time. My only other alternative seems to be to put Thor to sleep before he kills the MinPin. Thanks, I really don't want to lose a dog that is normally very docile.
Well, you have a serious problem on your hands and you are right about the dane possibily killing the min pin. Talk to your animal psychologist about prozac. Together with behavioral modification and medication you may be able to help this bad situation. Vetcare
