I have a bichon frise. She was 10 years old on March 10th of this year. Due to her excessive drinking and urinating I thought like many times before she had another urinary track infection so she was put on ampicillin. It didn't help, then she was put on baytril that didn't help. X-rays were taken, found out she had a bladder stone. Had that operated on May 10th. Excessive water consumption and frequent urinating still continued. Had a low dose dexamentasone test done and proved she had cushings disease. She has been on anipryl since June 7th. Still haven't seen any improvement. I've read all different info on how long long it should take to work. What is your input on this? I'm getting up 1 to 3 times during the middle of the night with her still and I'm really getting discouraged. IF this doesn't work, what do ou suggest next? Any info you can give me on this disease and her prognosis would be very much appreciated. Thanking you in advance for your help.
I usually see good results a month after initiating treatment. If it has been several months then you might want to talk to your vet about a drug called Lysodren. Once regulated on Lysodren I see a great inprovement with the drinking and urinating. vetcare
