I raise Chinese Sharp-peis. I have always had good luck with them in regards to their skin. But i currently have one that is having terrible problems with his skin. His is all dry, feels feverish, and losing hair like crazy. He also scratches until he bleeds. Now at the current time, along with the skin his eyes are matting, and swelling shut. I am cautious with his diet, I avoid soy products. I give him daily vitamins. I also have bathed him in everything I can think of. I want to stay away from steroid shots if possible, because I know that will eventually cause kidney failure. Could this be a secondary infection to something else? I am open to any suggestions, this is breaking my heart to see this pet this way.
I assume your vet checked for mange and you know for a fact your pet does not have mange. If this is the case then I recommend allergy testing . Your pet may have a food allergy or an enviromental allergy that is causing the signs. Try a hypoallergetic diet such as science diet Z/D. Good luck, vetcare
