I heard that declawing cats can be very painful and oftentimes will hurt the cat more then help him. After reading some liturature I have decided against declawing my cat but I want my furniture to be safe from clawing attacks. How can a train my cat not to claw on the furniture? Do scratching posts really work? or do they encourage cats to claw other furniture? what product/method do you reccomend?
First, buy a scratching post and try to place a bit of your furniture fabric on the post ( only if your pet has scratched the furniture in the past). Second spray your furniture with a "deterant" spray ( many on the market for this purpose). vetcare
