I have taken in a cat approx. 1 yr ago. He was on the brink of death. we nursed him and now he has just the opposite problem. instead of starving to death,he is eating himself to death. he went from 3.8' to 20.9'.his only exercise is from the bowl to the box. He is a fairly large breed of cat(ragdoll) but he has become obcessed with eating.
i have spoken with his vet. he is reluctant to place him on any kitty prozac for fear of side effects.i have change his food to the hills science prec. r/d. he seems a little more satisfied, but still hangs out by the bowl. he nibbles throughtout the entire day. how can i make this big guy feel secure enough that he will not starve to death?
I would appreciate any advise.
Your cat does not prepare his own food whcih means you are feeding him too much! Stop feeding him too much food and he will loose weight. Ask your vet about a good diet plan. vetcare
