My 5 yr old Cocker has just been diagnosed with a heart murmur. She has no other signs other than what can be heard thru a stetoscope. What does this sudden onset mean and what should I do for her?
There are many different causes for a heart murmur. A few include, a dilated cardiomyopathy, valvular disease, congenital abnormality. It does not sound like your vet is very concerned about this or he/she would of recommended an echocardiogram. This will tell you the exact problem with the heart. If you are worried then why don't you ask your vet for an echo. Some low grade heart murmurs are not serious and usually just need to be monitored by the vet. Vetcare
