Our cat is rather large.... apprx. 18 lbs. would be my guess..... he is not overweight, just big (apprx. 10-11 years in age). He is currently taking cosequin, and has been for quite some time (apprx. 1 year or more). Anyway, as the medication gets expensive, we want to know if we can follow the maintenance schedule and feed it to him every two days instead of every day as we are now.... the dosage we are giving him everyday is glucosamine (250 mg.), sodium chondroitin sulfate (200 mg.), ascorbate (16 mg.) and manganese (2 mg.) The reason, according to my wife, that we are giving it to him everyday is b/c of his size; a previous vet recommended that dosage everyday..... however, the cosequin directions differ with that opinion.... should we be giving him that dosage everyday, or can we get on the maintenance schedule?... thanks!!
I do not see why not try the every other day dose recommended on the bottle but you should really ask your vet why he/she wants your pet on the medication every day. There may be a GOOD reason. vetcare
