I have a very finicky cat that will not, under any circumstances, eat cat food. She eats meat, but only cold cuts or table scraps. Her vet told me that she will not get enough taurine in her diet and this is bad for her heart. I read on line that only vegetarian cats have taurine deficiencies. Which is true? And how can I get taurine supplements? Thanks!
Cats require a great deal of taurine which is often synthesized in inadequate amounts. Unless you know the exact amount of taurine in her diet and you know it is the recommended amount then there is a possibility that she can become deficient in this important amino acid. There are hundreds of different vitamin supplements avail, find one with taurine. vetcare
