A small dog of mixed breeds has a clavicle fracture according to an animal ER. The family can not afford a surgery to pin to bone. I am a certified Orthopedic Technician and the question I have, is it possible to cast the upper body and the leg on the affected side in a spica fashion to heal the clavicle. Would plaster or fiberglass be the casting tape of choice and what complications should I be aware of. Thank You for your time.
There is no such thing as a clavical bone in a dog. Sorry but you must be mistaken. Take care, vetcare
