MY 8 YR. OLD TABBY HAS CARDIOMEGALY AND CHF. HE IS ON LASIX, AND I'M WORRIED ABOUT POTASSIUM AND ELECTROLYTES. HE WAS ON ENALAPRIL RIGHT AFTER THE CRISIS, BUT DIDN'T EAT FOR 7 DAYS. USED AN APPETITE STIMULANT FOR A SHORT TIME, WHICH WORKED. HE GOT BETTER, BUT NEEDS AN ECHO TO SEE WHAT EXACT CARDIAC MED HE NEEDS. I CAN'T AFFORD IT. HIS BREATHING NOW SEEMS TO BE A LITTLE MORE LABORED,BUT HE'S ACTING NORMAL. SHOULD I START THE ENALAPRIL AGAIN? OR GIVE A VITAMIN SUPPLEMENT?THE CARDIOLOGIST WON'T TAKE PET INSURANCE. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
You must talk to your vet about this. It is a good question that needs to be discussed with the vet who examined your pet. vetcare
