We have a Shihtzu that is 9 1/2 months old. She still is not house trained to go outside. I have to keep her restrained in my sight or she will go behind furniture to move her bowels and then eat it. I read two books and discussed this with my vet. Nothing has worked except keeping her by my side at all times - and I can't always do that. When she does go outside we praise her and give her a very special treat (deli sliced roast beef). When she goes in the house I put her in her Kennel after scolding her and telling her she must do it outside! I try to regulate her feeding so I know about when she will have to go. But that doesn't always work. Please help! We really love our Shihtzu. Her name is Wookie Bear. Thanks.
I recommend that when she goes to the bathroom in the house, reprimand her and then bring her outside to show her the correct place to go to the bathroom. I also recommend that you keep her in an isolated area in the house so you have more control over her. Try Forbid or deter for the coprophagia. Double the dose if the recommended dose does not work.
