My pug is taking clavamox,125mg. twice a day, for hair loss.(on her head and hind leg). She is 11 months old. My vet. said it is dermodex, and I may have to live with the hair loss, since the treatment don't seem to be helping.Should I see another vet.? Or is there something I can do to help her, and get the hair to grow back?
There is no itching, and it don't seem to bother her. It just looks very bad.
Thank you for any info.
Demodex is a mite thet grows under the skin. It is not treated with antibiotics (clavamox). If it is localized to one or two spots then I treat it with a mitaban dip every 2 weeks until symptoms are gone. It is usually self limiting which means it should go away on it's own with time. I usually end up treating it anyway. I recommend a second opinion with another vet. Vetcare
