I have been taking my pet dogs to a certain vet for about 8 years. Until now I could get prescriiption drugs, mostly Interceptor, from him at internet prices if I brought in a copy of the online prices from the web site. I just was informed by his office that he will no longer honor that practice, nor will he write a prescription at my request. I believe this is unfair, and amounts to extortion. If I go to a physician and require medication, and he writes a prescription which I can fill anywhere, why isn't a veterinarian similarly obligated if I wish to purchase my medications elsewhere. Is he a doctor or a drug salesman? Could you please give me information as to where I might bring this problem to the attention of veterinary authorities?
You are correct. If your vet recommended a specific drug he is obligated to give you a prescription if you ask. Call your state verinary board. vetcare
