I have a 6 year old Golden Retriever (Shadow). It is constantly necessary to clean his ears, as a dark, gummy substance builds up. It has an ordor which reminds me of yeast. My vet has me use an Otic Clear liquid ear cleaner (blue in color), but this does not provide a solution to my problem. He does not offer any other solutions, but I know there has to be one. Can you help me (and Shadow)? Thank you ever so much.
Your pet needs a culture and sensitivity done on the ear. Then the appropriate medication can be used. The cleaner you have only cleans the ear and will not cure an infection. It sounds like your pet has a ear infection and it could also be a yeast infection. I usually use Otomax for this, vetcare
