My, almost 14 year old, Eng. Springer has a blockage in her right sinus and nasal cavity. x-rays are cloudy on that side. My vet thinks it is a tumor. She has difficulty breathing thru her nose (especially when she is trying to eat or drink). I'd like to give her a decongestant like sudifed or one with antihistimine like actifed. Would a childrens dosage (60lbs) for such a medicine be safe for a dog? Is there any particular one (ingrediant wise)? She is on thyroxine and prednisone.
I usually use Benadry 50 mg 2 x daily. Sudafed won't hurt either but it is not used as a decongestant in dogs so I do not know if it will help. Good luck, vetcare
