I have a 5 year old Dachsund/Beagle. Recently he has been coughing alot and when he sneezes, blood comes out. I've taken him to my local vet and they think that it could be due to the house being dry and so I bought a humidifier. But, he is still sneezing up blood periodically. The vet also prescribed Torbutrol and my dog has been taking if for about a week. My dog is now tired and won't eat. I don't see him sneezing as much now or coughing with blood. But now he won't eat and seems lifeless. Is Torbutrol helping or just sedating him? I would like to have this resolved as I love my dog dearly, but he is ruining my rugs and drapes by getting blood on them all the time. What should I do now? Do you think he has something more serious?
I am worried about the blood. Is the blood coming from the nose, throat or lungs? This could be a fungal, bacterial, viral infection. Another possibilities are tumor, foreign body, clotting disorder. I do not want to scare you but I do recommend a second opinion if there is no improvement. Vetcare
