My cat Peedie has lost weight in the past 6 months, though he is eating well and seems active and content. I can feel his bony haunches, where he use to be quite solid. There is more dandruff in his fur than usual when I brush him. He devours 2 cans of catfood (medium sized) daily and has free access to dry food. He also drinks a lot of water. He is an outside cat; does some hunting. I have seen bird parts, and he has brought in rabbits and mice. I don't know how old he is since he adopted me, but probably 10+ years old. He never uses a catbox, so I have never seen his feces. He uses a cat door. I use Frontline on him for fleas and ticks. He is up to date on his rabiies shots. I am wondering if he has picked up a parasite in his wanderings and wonder if there is a safe medication I can try?
Your pet needs to be seen by vet. Weight loss is an important clinical sign to many different types of diseases. Good luck, vetcare
