My cat Blackie developed Asthma at the age of 10 months. She has been on Brethine 1/2 tablet (2.5mg) twice a day & Prednisone 1 tablet once a day. Now at the age of 3 1/2 years she has been having trouble breathing again. The vet has increased her dosage of Prednisone to 2 tablets per day, but she is still having problems breathing. He said I could try Methylprednisolone 4mg tablets, which PetCareRx does not seem to sell...Do you think this will help at all? From what I found out this new drug costs $1.09 per tablet = $65.40 for 60 tablets, which is very expensive, but do you think this will help her?
Methylprednisolone is used to treat asthma in cats and is worth a try if the prednisone is not working well. Another possibility, without the side effects, is accloate 20mg 1/4 tab 2 x daily. Talk to your vet about it. vetcare
