My 5 1/2 yr. old english bulldog started bleeding from his penis 3 wks ago. He was not neutered and was bred a few times 2-3 yrs ago.
we have famale dogs that he get excited over but I took my famale in heat to my mothers. It first happened when his dad came home and he got excited. He bled all over. It came out of his penis like a faucet. The Vet. said he injured himself up inside and gave him a 10 day antibiotic and ointment and said come back in 5 days. He bled more everyday whenever he got excited when his dad would come home. His urine tested ok. When I went back the vet kept him at hosp. They gave him vitamin K for his blood. They asked me to pick him up 2 days later and he bled again when he seen me, so they kept him again and neutered him the next day. They gave him female hormones and 2 days later I picked him up sedated. the next evening he bled again. I've been sedating him so he won't get excited per Dr. recommendations. He again bled 4 days later. and now 2 days later aga
I am worried about the amount of blood you report. Your pet may have an enlarged prostate (benign protate hyperplasia). Usually when a dog is neutered the prostate shrinks(this can take about 1 mo) and the bleeding stops UNLESS there is a more serious problem with the prostate. The blood can also be coming from the urinary bladder but that is less likely. I recommend an ultrasound of the adbomen so the prostate can be assessed and possibly biopsied. A second opinion would not hurt. Good luck, vetcare
