We own a indoor cat who is 15 years old. He has a recent history over 3-4 years of constipation. We have tried everything suggested by our vet without much success. An enema seems to always relieve the problem, but by the time he gets to the vet for this he usually need rehydrated. We've tried all soft food, Laxatone x 2 daily, and Mineral Oil in food x 2-3 weekly. This has all been most helpful, however we are back in the same problem. What would you do? I would like perhaps to have the appropriate enema on hand (pet docusate 150mg syringe). Can I buy this OTC ?? I need answers because my poor pet is miserable with this, and this just keep reocurring?? I've read many articles in Cat Fancy Magazine, but have found no real answers for our cat Patches. Thank you. Sharon E. Z.
Some cats just need an enema periodically. I do not belive this is sold otc. Do you really want to do this at home? The stool is very messy and smelly. Some cats need manual removal and a vet should be around to do this. vetcare
