Bubba was ok then of course the lupus flared up again. The Prednisone doesn't seem to give him long term relief. It's more so while he's on it and then if he's lucky a few months after that. Right now he's on it yet again and it puts the weight on him too. I really don't like this drug but have no choice. When his lupus flares up he is so miserable with pain and fever.
Not really. Right now he is on a pain killer only. His skin is pretty dry so I'm also putting an additive into his food. He is grumpy and licking to the point he has a hot spot so I know he is still having some pain. I don't know what to do for him at this time :-( I don't really want to put him back on prednisone because he gains too much weight and that's not good for him either.
My dog has Lupus. He is back and forth on Prednisone but just as I'm weaning him off he seems to start getting another flare up. He's also getting fat! More so with this last round of medication. I want to know if there is anything I can do at home for him instead of all these hard and expensive drugs and vet bills. I simply can't afford this as I live on a disability pension myself. Bubba is only 6 yrs old and a loving dog. He lives here with his mom and 2 sisters. There is no way I want to put him down or give him away but on the other hand, the bills are getting out of hand.
