We are looking after a 5 month old kitten. Abandoned at 2 months old, she was found by an elderly lady who adored her. The kitten has had very little contact with anyone other than the new owner and is very fussy and nervous. She would hide if a rare visitor called in. The elderly woman is on a holiday for a week, so we have the kitten at our place. She won't eat, hides constantly, but will let us hold her and pat her - then hides again. She's pining very badly for the elderly owner. What should we do other than put 'the owners' things around her at our place?
It is important that the kitten eats. Try placing food in differnt locations around the house. You can try to warm up the food as well. Don't force the kitten out of hiding she will come around in good time. Pet and reassure her, this will make her more comfortable. vetcare
