I have a 3 1/2 yr. old English Bulldog who has episodes where her head shakes. I give her honey on her tongue and it goes right away. I've been thinking it's low blood sugar and my vet does not know what it is. She also has a cronic cough and rattle and sometimes it gets bad. My vet gave me cough tabs for this. they took exrays and said she had tracheal bronchitis. while this was going on her episodes of head shaking were very frequent. Now she is very sick with cough again and just had a reaction this am. The Vet. told me her heart was larger but it could be normal for her breed. Could this be Heart Failure as described in your forum?? Please let me know right away, I love her very much and I want to do all I can for her! Thank you !
From what you describe it could be a localized seizure ( in which case, depending on the severity, I usually do not treat), a neurologic dz, or it could be low sugar but low sugar is unusual at this age and in this breed. An Insulinoma can cause hypoglycemia but this is also unusual. I think the cough is unrelated. Tracheobronchitis takes about 3 mo to completely go away in bulldogs.
