I have a Yorkie born Feb 17th. Such a friendly, happy dog.
I have a 9-5 job and keep him in a crate during the day.
He is very playful when I get home and around 11pm is ready to sleep. Problem is if I keep him in the crate to sleep - he whins for me - for a very long time - and wakes up through the night and barks.
I also tried having him sleep with me but he just plays at first - then jumps off the bed and wants to keep jumping up and down.
Any suggestions...... I appreciate your help.
Your puppy may need more exercise during the day. Alone in a crate for 8 hrs is a long time. Maybe you have a friend who can walk him or play with him during the day. Do not allow him to sleep with you. Try giving him his "favorite" toy or treat in his crate, when it is time to go to bed. If you give him a treat the treat should distract him for at least 20 min (ie: pigs ear). Only give this to him when it is bed time ( treat or toy) This will help with sparation anxiety. vetcare
