My dog has a real problem with allergies. This time of the year he goes nuts scratching. I give him a thyroxin 5mg every night. When he really scratches I also give him a prednazone 5 mg which seems to really help but I was told that prednazine could hurt him since it is a steroid. Is this true and what would be good for him to take?
Steroids work grat but you want to avoid them IF possible. They do have side effects, esp. with long term use at high doses. Talk to your vet about benadryl or atarax. These are anti-histamines that may help and have little side effects. vetcare
