We have a 12yr old female that has not been acting like herself. She's sleeping on a chair instead of the human's bed, she's less active and energetic. Her appetite seems down, although she is eating and drinking water. The most unusual symptom is her box behavior. She is using the litter box and seems to be urinating and defecating like normal except that her stool has been slightly soft and she seems to be trying to wipe herself off on the side of the box. The other day, she had wiped her bum on several places of the carpeted floor, and when I checked her, she had some feces stuck to the hair near the anal area. She is a medium haired cat. I used a warm washcloth and mild soap to clean her off until she was clean and her fur has remained that way since. How do we know whether a visit to the vet is warranted?
If she is still acting strange then I recommend a visit tot he vet. vetcare
