My English Bulldog has had a yeast infection in her ears for months. Shes been to the vet a few times. we tried otomax it did'nt work then we used 15 days of baytril antibiotic tabs. and baytril otic drops once a day. she still has infection! This has cost me quite a bit of money with no results. What should I do. Is there a home remedy or can I continue using the baytril drops and should I increase the amount that I use to twice a day instead of once? please help!
Baytril otic does not kill yeast. I recommend that your vet culture the ear so you know exactly what is growing in your pets ear and then the appropriate antibiotic can be used. I usually treat ear infections for a full 3 weeks. I recommend that you keep the ear dry and clean. Ear infections are painfull and can be difficult to treat sometimes. Not only can bacteria and yeast cause an ear infection but a mass in the ear and an allergy can also cause it. Good luck, vetcare
