I would like to find out more about ear-mites in cats. What is the lifecylce of mites, what can be used to effectively treat ear-mites? How long do I need to continue to use the product? How do cats get ear-mites and can they be spread to dogs? How are ear-mites spread? Can they spread to humans?
The life cycle of Otodectes cynotic is three weeks. Females lay eggs and cement them to the epidermal surface, they hatch into larvae which undergo 2 molts. Zoonotic lesions may occur on in-contact human menbers. "Vesicles, wheals, erythematous papules, and excoriation on the arms and torso have been reported". This is rare. The main route of transmission is through contact with an infected host. I treat ear mites with tresaderm 2 x daily for three weeks. vetcare
