our dogs are on heartworm all year round why do the vets insist on testing still every year or two years? Is this product not 100%?We have recently moved and our old vet said it was fine to keep them on heartgard all year around to avoid the yearly blood test and our new vet says no way and relented to at least test every two years then. What is the sense of using heartgard if you still have to keep testing? Also, my friend works in a lab that tests heargard and makes the tests and she says the vet is just pushing me into testing because they want to up the bill and no way is it neccesary to test if they are on it all year long. We have three dogs and all we want to know is the truth.Thanks.
It is recommended that a dog be tested for heartworm every year for 2 reasons mainly. First, many owners do not give the medication as recommended. Second, not all medication is 100%. vetcare
