My 10 or 11 year old shorthair tabby has been to the vet three times for her constipation. She has been eating only canned food (a/d) and drinking plenty of water. She is on Tapazole for her hyperthyroid and generilac 1 ml 3 times a day for constipation. The vet says she has slightly smaller than normal kidneys and she has been losing wieght recently. I know she may have some underlying problem, but for the moment I am more concerned with her constipation. What other things do you think can we do? I'm afraid we will have to take her in for her fourth enema in just over a month and a half. I would appreciate any help you can give us. Thank you!
You can add pumpkin filling to her food. This has fiber in it which will help her defecate. Metamucil may also help. Add about 1 teaspoon to the ( wet) food daily. vetcare
