My female Yorkie is almost 5 years old and acts very healthy. On a routine chemisty panal prior to teeth cleaning my vet found that her bile acids were high and repeated fasting were still high. 78 to 55.9.
If she had a liver shunt, she would act sick. She never has. She still acts like a puppy. My vet recom. a nuclear med scan at Davis. Do you think I should do this or a liver bx. or nothing? I have her on a low protien diet.
This does not mean that she definitively has a liver shunt but because the values are so high I would recommend further tests to detmine why they are high. I would start with an abdominal ultrasound and take it from there. Nuclear scan is more difinative. vetcare
