Three years ago my father stepped on Butch's right front leg in the dark. Butch is a 13yr-old male, smooth-haired, blue chow mix and has been limping, except when chasing a cat or a squirrel, ever since the accident. I have tried pregnisolone,Advil, glucosamine, chondrotin...nothing seems to work. His veterinarian says it may be nerve damage which cannot be repaired.
Is there any other way to enable his body to heal itself? Or, will he always be in pain?
There is probably not much you can do in terms of healing but there are plenty of pain meds available, such as rimadyl. vetcare
