I have a 5 year old Italian Greyhound that up unitl a few days ago was in good health. He has been throwing up all his dog food. (both solid and soft) This morning I noticed that there was blood in the throwup. I do not live near a vet. The nearest one is 400 miles from where I live and the only way to get there is to fly since my part of Alaska is not on any road system. What could be causing this and is there anything I can do for him at home?
This could mean that the stomach lining or esophagus may be bleeding. An ulcer can casue this, or another type of irritation. Try tagamet, the adult dose 2 x daily. If this does not help in 24 hrs then your pet should be examined by a vet. good luck, vetcare
