My 8yoa mix bread dog has been diagnosed with a mast tumor. She had a growth removed from her underside that tested positive. They told us they think they removed it all or most of it. What should be done? Prognosis?
The biopsy should tell the vet if the entire tumor has been removed. If it has not, then I recommend surgery again. The prognosis varies depending on the grade. What grade is the tumor?? Has it spread to other parts of the body?? If it is low grade some vets place the dogs on steroids for a few months and others do nothing. I would monitor for any new tumor growth anywhere on the body and I would have the dog checked by the vet every 6 months. If it is a high grade then I recommend that you bring your pet to an oncologist ( cancer doctor). vetcare
