i have had my 96 lb shepard mix for 12 years and i recently had a baby. my dog has always loved children however she has nipped at my baby. is there medication or something i can do to treat the recent agression in my dog? she is currently being treated for lyme disease and was also put on rimadyl for arthritis and my vet thought that this might have been the cause of her newfound agression towards my baby however i don't think this is helping and i'm afraid that my dog may actually bite her one day. i've had her 12 years, she was my only 'child' all this time and i would be heartbroken if i had to give her away or worse yet put her down however i also do not want to put my daughter in danger. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I am also afraid that your pet may bite and hurt the baby. The dog may view the baby as a threat. I strongly recommend that you find a new home for the dog. You can talk to a animal behavior specialist. There is no medication available that prevents a dog from biting. Good luck, vetcare
