I have a 10 yr old Maltese Mix with Luxating Patellas. She has one back leg that recently slipped out and she cannot use it. She does not seem to have pain from it but it has, evidently, been bothering her for sometime as the leg is somewhat atrophied. My vet has informed that the only way to correct the problem is with surgery. My dog is not a candidate for surgery because of pre-existing medical problems that would hinder her recovery from anesthesia.
My Question: Is there any physical therapy or non-surgical procedure that could be done so that she can regain the use of the leg?
I agree with your vet about surgery. If this is not an option then I recommend anti-inflammatory medication such as Rimadyl. Good luck, vetcare
