I have three new dogs.
two of them are 4 weeks old and one of them is 8 weeks old.
The two 4 week olds are labs, I understand now that they were not supposed to be given away until they were 8 weeks old. We have noticed white looking worms coming out where they poop. What do we need to do?
They eight week old is a cross between a rotweiler and a black curr. He seems to doing ok. What shots does he need now? Is there a list somewhere of all shots needed and when? We would like to purchase these and administer ourselves to save money.
Also, one big question: How do you potty train a dog? These are all puppies and I would like to start early. I want to keep them in the house, but they have a lot of accidents and it gets rather messy.
Please help. Thanks.
Usually I recommend selling or adopting out puppies between 6-8 wks of age. The pups with the worms need to be dewormed. A visit to the vet is a good idea and don't forget a stool sample.
A vaccine schedule I recommend is:
8wks DA2PP vaccine
17wks Parvo, +/- lyme vaccine
20wks Rabies, +/- lyme vaccine
Talk to your vet about the vaccines he/she recommend b/c each area is different. The best way to train a dog in my opinion is crate training and there are many books on the subject. Good luck, vetcare
