Mast cell tumors were diagnosed in my 4yr. old schnauzer's foot. When the biopsy came back, I was told by my dogs vet that the only thing we could do was amputate the leg above the hip. Since it had seemed to have spread to the lymph nodes of that leg, I have been given no other choices.
Can you help me to find another alternative for my little pal? What should I do?Thanks.
I recommend that you see a cancer specialist. Ask your vet for a referral. If it already spread to the lymph nodes ( which are throughout the body) I do not understand why amputation of one leg will help. If the cancer is in the lymph nodes the prognosis is poor. vetcare
