We have two male cats who have been neutered. Their litter box has a very strong smell of amonia. We change their box once a week and empty it everyday. We have also changed cat litter several times. Nothing seems to work. What can we do about it? We also used to put down newspapers and liners but they shred them when they are put down. They are basically using a bare litter box. We have to wash the entire litter box quite often. We are worried that the smell might harm them b/c it is really powerful and might discourage them from using their litter box.
There are many litter box fresheners available. You can use glade plug-ins etc.. You can also try baking soda. Good luck, vetcare
