Shedding

I have 4 cats and have a terrible time with shedding. Everytime they are on me (which is quite often) I will brush them but there is so much hair on furniture, clothing, rugs. What can be done? Is there a special medication to stop some of the shedding? What do you suggest as the best way to remove fur from home. I have tried vacing, sticky tape and brushing. Concerned Sue
