My son has a pitbull/great dane approximately 2 years old. This poor dog has lost most of his hair and his skin is all scaly, we were told he had food allergies and to put him on dry food that didn't contain any corn or wheat products, which we did, it seems to have helped a little bit, he doesn't scratch but not alot. Also his paws are swollen and tender, he licks them all the time and the slightest bumping of them causes them to bleed. What can this be caused from and what can we do to help him? We don't have much money so taking him to the vet is out of the question.
When dogs have allergies they lick paws and scratch skin. These are the 2 most common clinical signs. I recommend that you talk to your vet about trying antihistamines. Good luck, vetcare
