My dog has been scratching the snout area of her face for apprx 9 months. During that time, we've visited several vets and tried different things. Oral cortizone and injections, predisone, derm caps, etc. I've now had a allergy test done, both food and exterior airborne allergens and they found 31 types. My question is if the dog is allergic to something, why would she almost exclusively scratch the sides of her face? Lately, she has also been scratching her years, shaking her head like there is something in her ears, and also nibbling at her paws. Are all of these things due to allergies?? Could the ears be ear mites??She is 3 years old now, and the first year I had her, she never had any problems. A change in diet also did not bring on these problems.
What you are describing can very well be allergies. Ear infections go hand in hand with allergies. It sounds like your pet has a ear infection. A vet needs to examine your pet to determine if it is an ear mite. Good luck, vetcare
