I was reading this note on Page 4 about a cat 'losing his balance and falling over' and have come across several comments on this. I have a barn kitten who did this; that is, fine one day and the next he acted 'drunk', splay-footed and disoriented, altho he went for the soft cat food I feed the barn kittens every day. Since he's basically a barn cat, and we do take excellent care of the outside cats, for example, shots, neutering and deworming, I could not afford to take him him to a vet and have this diagnosed and made him comfortable and expected to come into the shed and find him dead by morning. Instead, he seemed perfectly alright, and the episode has never recurred. His belly was also bloated when this was happening. Just out of curiosity, what could that have been? The other 4 kittens in his litter were not affected, and they were all weaned about one week when this occured.
It is very hard for me to tell you exactly what this was. It is possible the kitten became hypoglycemic. vetcare
