I have just become responsible for the care of a 16 year old dog, and I was wondering if you could recomend any websites, books or anything else pertaining to caring for an elderly pet. He is not sick or anything, he is just old, and I don't know if there are any special requirements needed for an older dog. He is very friendly, and I would like to insure he gets the best care I can give him. Are there special needs for a pet of this age? Anything you can recomend either now or in the future, please feel free to email me. I understand that not seeing the pet may limit your ability to make recomendations, I guess just anything i can do, or anything to watch for in a dog of this age would be helpful. He is a wonderful friend, and I have become attached to him, and his age just worrys me, considering big dogs don't normally live this long. Please help me provide my friend with the best care I can give him.
It would be ok to share my email with anyone you think might be able to offer any
I recommend that you bring him to the vet for a full check-up and general blood work. I recommend a senior diet as well.If he has any problems this will help find them. I do not know of a specific book but maybe your vet does. vetcrae
