My cat is 7 years old. Last year, she started gaining weight and suddenly developed problems with being able to groom herself. I have to clean her and bathe her. She also has had patches of fur that look matted and sometimes sores. I clean her with vinegar and water and then apply antibiotic ointment. She has a healthy, almost obsessive appetite and is lethargic. Do you think most of her problems are due to being overweight? We have her on a maintenance weight food. Also when we pet her, she constantly licks us or herself which I attribute to anxiety. What can we do to help her? We have two other males, one of which attacks her at times.
I recommend a blood test at the vet just to make sure everything is ok. The obesity is a problem and maybe your vet can put her on a restricted calorie diet. vetcare
