My 12 year old, indoor, male cat, who is somewhat overweight but, in otherwise good health. Developed a lump under his left jawbone on the side of his throat, about the size of a golf ball. He is part Persian so the furry face disguised it until I was scratching him under his chin one day. The vet inserted a needle and withdrew a full syringe of clear fluid and the sack disappeared. The vet said it was likely saliva that wasn't draining properly, but after two weeks it has started to recur. The vet's advice has been to been him back for periodic draining and that it may have been some kind of trauma to the saliva gland. He doesn't seem to be in any discomfort, (except for when I take him to the vet). Is there anything else that could be done about this condition, rather than just repeated trips for draining it every two weeks, which also drains my bank book?
The only other option that I could see is sx. This will at least get rid of the problem for good but it may cost alot. Sorry, vetcare
