I have a cat who gets recurring bladder infections. The medications so far prescribed by the vet here in town haven't been effective for more than a few days if at all, and she hates taking them. I have used Goldenseal drops for myself to clear up sinus and other infections quite successfully. Can this also be given to an adult cat without side effects? The human doseage is 2 mil. for a human adult. Would it be 1/10th of that, since she weighs around 15 pounds? (if it is safe to dose her with, that is)
I don't know what cats are supposed to have and not have when it comes to herbal treatments so would appreciate any information you might have.
Looking forward to your reply!
I do not know if goldenseal is safe on cats. You would need to talk to a vet who specializes in alternative therapy. I do recommend a bladder x-ray, urinalysis and culture and sensitivity to determine the cause of the UTI. I also recommend a special diet (usually a low ash diet) depending on the lab results. good luck, vetcare
